What is Parkinson's disease?
Parkinson's is a progressive disease of the neurological system that primarily affects the brain. This is one of the main and most common nerve disorders of old age and is characterized mainly by impairing motor coordination and cause tremors and difficulty walking and jogging. There are ways to prevent Parkinson's disease.
causes
Nerve cells use a brain chemical called dopamine to help control muscle movement. Parkinson occurs when nerve cells that produce dopamine in the brain are destroyed slowly and steadily. Without dopamine, the nerve cells in that part of the brain can not properly send messages. This leads to loss of muscle function. The damage gets worse over time.
The exact cause wear these brain cells is unknown, but doctors believe that a mix of factors may be involved:
Gene: gene-specific mutations may be involved in Parkinson causes, but these cases are rare, usually happen family members affected by Parkinson's disease. However, some genetic changes appear to increase the risk of disease
Environment: Exposure to certain toxins or environmental factors may increase the risk of Parkinson's disease in the future, but the risk is relatively small.
Risk factors
Some factors are considered at risk for developing Parkinson's. see:
Age: young adults rarely have Parkinson's disease, as it is more common in people in old age. The risk of Parkinson's disease increases with age. People tend to develop the disease at around 60 years of age or older
Heredity: Having a close relative with Parkinson's disease increases the chances of a person developing the disease. However, the risks are still small, unless the person has many relatives who have the disease
Gender: Men are more likely to develop Parkinson's disease than women
Exposure to toxins: Continuous exposure to herbicides and pesticides can put a person at a slightly increased risk of Parkinson's disease.
symptoms
Symptoms of Parkinson's disease
Parkinson may affect only one or both sides of the body, and the degree of loss of function caused by the disease can vary depending on the case.
The symptoms are usually mild at first, but as the Parkinson's is a progressive disease, the symptoms tend to worsen over time and lead to more serious complications. Check out the key signs and symptoms of the disease:
Decrease or disappearance of automatic movements (such as blinking)
constipation
Difficulty swallowing
slobber
Balance and walking committed
Lack of expression on his face (mask appearance)
Muscle pain (myalgia)
Difficulty starting or continuing movement, such as starting to walk or get up from a chair
Loss of fine motor skills (the letter can be small and difficult to read, and eating can become more difficult)
diminished movements
inclined position
Stiff muscles (often beginning in the legs)
Tremors that occur in the limbs at rest or lifting your arm or leg
Tremors that disappear during movement
Over time, tremor can be seen on the head, lips and feet
May worsen with fatigue, excitement or stress
Presence of rubbing the fingers and thumb (as the movement of money count)
Voice inside, lower monotone
Anxiety, stress and tension
confusion
dementia
depression
fainting
hallucinations
Memory loss
