Diet with excess carbohydrates can increase risk of dementia
The reasons to reduce the carbohydrates in the dish are becoming stronger day. Potatoes, bread, rice and pasta, especially processed, are known to climb the balance pointers and often cause severe changes in blood glucose tests. What was not expected was the relationship of overeating carbohydrates with increased risk of very dreaded neurological diseases such as Alzheimer's, dementia and other disorders that bring with them the decline in cognition. An interview published in the journal Alternative and Complementary Therapies lights a discussion that divides opinion among physicians. Professor David Perlmutter, Functional Medicine Institute in Washington, is categorical in saying that carbohydrates and glucose are detrimental to brain health.

He argues that newspapers and magazines have published reports observed that higher levels of blood glucose are specifically harmful to the brain in general and, more specifically, to the hippocampus, the mediator of the memory function. An article in the journal Neurology, for example, reported that elevations in blood glucose and glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) leading to impaired memory and hippocampal shrinkage. Another study in The New England Journal of Medicine showed that even discrete elevations in blood sugar can be translated in a dramatic increase in the risk for developing dementia. "It is a deep correlation recognize that even subtle glucose elevations - well below the levels to be considered diabetic. - Can be harmful to the brain"
Eat well with balance, fruits and vegetables are priorities, but can eat little, breads, pasta in general and less fat, salt and sugar to meals. Health Issues!
